Writers*Republic is an independent writing workshop based in Austin, Texas offering fiction writing classes for all levels.
We are currently enrolling for summer Advanced Fiction Writing and Introduction to Fiction Writing workshops.
Writers*Republic is a place for novice and experienced writers to share their work and gain insight from peers in a formalized workshop setting. With small classes and selective admissions, each workshop provides detailed critiques and comprehensive feedback to help guide writers through the drafting process and bring work to the next level.
The workshop setting is not just about receiving critiques from fellow writers. It is a place to learn about the workings of the story. Through close analysis of participants’ stories, writers learn from the varied successes (and non-successes) of each particular piece. We will analyze structure, character development, and the importance of detail, discuss the benefits and pitfalls of different points of view, narrative voices and tones, and ask the question: What makes a story work?
